A group of Labour Party youth unit leaders and prominent PDP youth in Kwara State dubbed the Progressives Elites has advanced reasons why its members took interest in joining the All Progressives Party (APC) in the state.
The group, led by the Labour Party Kwara state youth leader, Funmilayo Sofiat Odeyemi, said the group members were thrilled by the many youth-friendly policies and programmes of the present administration in the state, which triggered the development.
In an unscheduled chat with Symbol Magazine and Kwara Alert News, the leader of the team affirmed that politics is all about interest and the group will take its interest in any youth-friendly party that is interested in the progress of the youth.
She said “Politics is about interest, as youth leaders in our own rights we are concerned with Kwara youth and you will agree with me that this present administration, under the leadership of the youth friendly Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has done and is still doing much for the youth.”
Odeyemi, who disclosed that she defected to the ruling party with leaders of many youth association also stated that the Governor’s dedication to ensuring women participation in politics is unparalleled in the history of the state.
“When you look at the way this government is giving youth and women a platform to participate in politics and also promoting welfarism, you will agree with me that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq deserves commendation.
“The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Saliu, also deserves commendation for holding fort as an ideal youth. His deft handling of legislative business has contributed immensely to the political stability in the state.
“Over the years he has been an exceptional representative of the youth and clearly justified the confidence reposed in him by not just his constituents and his colleagues who elected him as their numero uno, but also by the #NotTooYoungToRun constituency that insisted that young people can also hold their own in public service,” he has been an exceptional backbone for the youths , Odeyemi added.
The leader of the Progressive Elites group commended the First Lady of the state, Prof. (Mrs.) Olufolake AbdulRazaq, for her motherly role in the state.
She stated that the First Lady had through her Ajike Peoples Support Center impacted greatly in the lives of both women and youth in the state.
Odeyemi also commended the APC chairman in the state, Prince Sunday Fagbemi for his fatherly advice and guidance pointing out that the chairman made her team’s defection stress free.
