Nigerian visitors visiting Dubai who have legal visas are being turned away, according to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM.
Remember how some Nigerian tourists who just traveled to Dubai were held at the airport and had their passports taken? After their passports were taken without cause, few were seen demanding answers.
“What the Dubai authorities have done is tightened up the visa application procedures.” It is quite tough to obtain a visa if you are under 30. No matter who you are, you won’t be able to fulfill it since they have made it so difficult.
Second, if you are currently traveling to Dubai, you must present a six-month bank statement, your ticket, and documentation for your intended place of habitation. When speaking on a program on Arise TV, Dabiri-Erewa said, “If you lie about where you are going to stay, they are going to know, thus they are going to turn you back.”
She advised Nigerians to stop giving the country a bad name.
