The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Osun State and Sen. Ademola Adeleke, the state’s new Governor, have each hired no fewer than eight Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) and 42 attorneys to represent them before the governorship election petition tribunal, which is located in Osogbo, the state’s capital.

According to information obtained by our correspondent, the legal team representing the PDP and Adeleke will be led by well-known election law specialists including Alex Ezion, SAN, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, Chief Nathaniel Oke, SAN, Mr. Kehinde Ogunwumiju, SAN, and Dr. Paul Ananaba, SAN, among others.

The PDP has assembled his legal team to “destroy” Oyetola’s plea, according to Barr. Kolapo Alimi, the deputy director of the Adeleke Campaign Council, who spoke to the medium yesterday.

Alimi claims that Oyetola’s plea to the tribunal is merely a waste of the judiciary’s “valuable time.”

It should be recalled that the PDP requested the tribunal to dismiss Oyetola’s case in its defense, which was filed and presented on Tuesday.

The governor’s plea is false and ridiculous, according to the PDP.

Dr. Adekunle Akindele, the PDP’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, presented the response to the tribunal.

There was no overvoting in any of the polling places that Oyetola and the APC were contesting, according to Akindele, who testified before the tribunal that Adeleke had legitimately won the election and been certified the winner

The response was submitted to the tribunal by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Adekunle Akindele.

Akindele told the tribunal that Adeleke convincingly won the election and was duly declared the winner, stating that there was no over-voting in any of the polling units being challenged by Oyetola and the APC.

He asked the election tribunal to dismiss Oyetola’s petition, describing it as frivolous, baseless, and un-meritorious.

Maintaining that the election was free, fair and credible without any iota of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022, Akindele said the allegations listed in Oyetola’s petition are lame and imaginary.

Akindele concluded that the petition filed by Oyetola and the APC is time-wasting and effort in futility, noting that Adeleke, the governor-elect, fulfilled all qualification criteria and conditions to run for the election.
