There was mild drama earlier today at the Intercontinental Hotel Annex, Ganmo, a bubbling outskirt town of Ilorin, after fourth-class traditional rulers and major stakeholders in the traditional institutions in Kwara South walked out of a scheduled rendezvous with Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, Senatorial Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, alleging the politician tricked them into honouring invitation in the first place.

As reliably learnt, the traditional rulers were persuaded to be at the Ganmo rendezvous after the impression was given that they were to meet with the state governor, Abdulrahaman Abdulrazak.

A traditional ruler who spoke to this platform on condition that his identity will not be revealed, said that they only found out that Sen Ibrahim was the convener of the meeting on getting to the hotel venue.

“It confirmed my initial doubt,” he explained.

According to him, the governor only meets the traditional rulers at the government house, “never at any hotel”, he said.

Sen Ibrahim reportedly met some of the traditional rulers on their way out of the hotel and got a piece of their mind.

“I personally expressed my disgust at the cheap trick of getting us over to Ganmo,” the traditional ruler said.
