The Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), in Kwara State, has declared support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s second term bid.

The association made this known during the golden handshake with a prize of 50 thousand naira given each to two men that completed payments of their tricycles ahead of liquidation date.

The move was taken to support members of TOAN to be self-reliant and advance their businesses in the State.

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Intervention, Mr Kayode Oyin-Zubair, on Thursday, appreciated the duo that cleaned their facility before the 18 months tenor of the intervention.

Addressing beneficiaries at the State Secretariat in Ilorin, he thanked Governor AbdulRazaq for giving him the platform to impact on the lives of many citizens positively through the office of Community Intervention.

According to him, “If the economy of a state must grow, the private sector must be supported to thrive well because that is the sector that can create more jobs for the people with the help of the State government providing an enabling environment.

“Look at those who are listed in Forbes rating, as very rich people in the world, they are the people leading private endeavours, they are not politicians. Therefore, don’t take what you are doing for granted. These people of means started as small like you.

He said “I knew it from on the outset that many people will benefit from this intervention either directly or indirectly because you can not do without changing the oil; servicing of the engine will give work to a mechanic and same thing with changing of tyres and so on”, he added

He, however, appealed to beneficiaries of the intervention to make good use of the opportunity and promptly make their returns to the Microfinance to enable others to benefit.

Zubair urged the union to mobilise their members to vote massively for Gov. AbdulRazaq to enable him to continue his good works in the state.

The Chairman of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), in Kwara State, Alhaji Saliu Gidado, was ably represented by his deputy, Alhaji Daud Kasolayo, who commended Governor AbdulRazaq’s efforts through the SSA for creating jobs for his members and others.
