A recent payment of funding to the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Kwara State, has benefited several small business owners.
The Kwara State Social Investment Programmes (KWASSIP), which oversees the payout as part of its Owo sowo Scheme, is one of the State’s several empowerment initiatives aimed at assisting companies and boosting the economy.
N600 million was set aside for distribution to 30,000 female small-business owners as part of the Nigeria for Women Project, a duplicate of the World Bank program
The program has also benefited thousands of market vendors and other small business owners throughout the State’s local government districts.
During the award distribution to the spouses of police personnel, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was present and gave presentations to some of the recipients.
Along with them, Senior Special Assistant on Security Alhaji Muyideen Aliyu, Acting General Manager KWASSIP Abdulquawiy Olododo, Chairperson Police Officers’ Wives Association Mrs. Lucy Odama, and Kwara State Commissioner of Police Paul Odama attended the ceremony.
