Following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III addressed the country from Buckingham Palace.
The new King reaffirmed his mother’s “lifelong promise of service,” claiming that her commitment was unwavering.
He said his son William would become the Prince of Wales, with his wife Catherine becoming the Princess of Wales, reports the BBC.
The King added that Prince Harry, his other son, has communicated his affection to him and Meghan, as well as other family members.
Earlier, he and Camilla, the Queen Consort, met throngs of people in front of the palace.
There is also a prayer and contemplation session going on in St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.
At the age of 96, the Queen passed away quietly at Balmoral Castle on Thursday afternoon.
