The Kwara State Government has restated it’s commitment towards ensuring access to affordable qualitative education across the State.
The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board Professor Shehu Abdul Raheem Adaramaja gave the assurance in Ilorin,while receiving the hierarchy of Government Secondary School Afon Old Students Association in his office.
Professor Adaramaja who described education as the bedrock of any sustainable development,said the state government was committed towards restoring the glory of Basic Education across the State.
He enumerated the efforts of the present administration in the State, towards ensuring access to qualitative education, pointing out that the Governor has approved the construction of Computer Literacy Centres in the School and GDSS Otte,to facilitate Computer Literacy among Secondary School Students of Asa Local Government Area.
The Professor of Health Education, University of Ilorin, while praising the GSS Afon Old Students,for their efforts at giving back to their Alma Mater, enjoined them to monitor the ongoing renovation of classrooms in the School,to ensure quality execution of on going projects in the School.
He assured that the requests of the Old Students Association would be looked into,by the state government,with a view to addressing them and called on Affluent Individuals, corporate organisations,Old Students Association and Parents Teachers Associations to complement the efforts of Government in maintaining facilities provided in their localities,to ensure that such projects stand the test of time.
Earlier,the President of GSS Afon Old Students Association Alhaji AbdulRasaq Mobolaji Yaqoob had praised the state government for its commitment,in restoring the glory of Basic Education in the state, through provision of facilities, quality teachers and Instructíonal Materials to all schools across the State.
Alhaji Yaqoob specifically eulogized the Kwara SUBEB under the leadership of Professor Adaramaja for approving the renovation of nine Classrooms in the Junior section of Government Secondary School Afon.
He said the leadership of the Association was in his office to express it’s appreciation over the ongoing renovation of nine Classrooms in the School.
The Telecommunication Expert, who enumerated the efforts of the Old Students at rejuvenating the pioneer Secondary School in Asa Local Government Area, assured that the Old Students under his leadership, would not relent in complementing the efforts of Government, at revamping the Unity School.
