On Thursday, the Federal Government declared that it was looking for measures to stop the trend of Nigerians emigrating.
In order to reduce the necessity for travel overseas, the government also stated that it would seek to ensure that Nigerians were gainfully employed.
The statement was made by Henry Ikoh, the Minister of State for Science, Technology, and Innovation, in Abuja as he greeted Ms. Deemah Yahya, the Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, who was there as a courtesy caller in connection with the upcoming Digital Nigeria Day Conference.
He claimed that industrialization, which could be accomplished by collaborating with the DCO in the field of human capital development, was the government’s plan to reverse the trend.
According to him, in order for the world to become a global village, technology transfer, capacity building, and synergy are all important. Nigeria and Africa in particular need these things right now. In order to achieve harmony, we must work together in all sectors.
“If we work together and create synergies in the field of human capital development, it would ensure industrialization. Once people are employed and out of poverty, they are less likely to struggle to travel overseas because everything is available locally. We already have all the necessary raw resources; but, for digitalization to be successful, we really need to cross-fertilize ideas and retrain our workforce.
According to Yahya, the group was in Nigeria to investigate its digital ecosystem and identify its actors.
“We are quite proud that Nigeria is a founding member of the Digital Corporation Organization, a multinational group that aims to advance the digital economy in member states,” she said. We represent 12 nations from three continents, with a combined population of 600 million and a $2 trillion GDP.
“We are delighted that Nigeria is a founding member, and we are here not only to reaffirm our commitment to supporting Nigeria’s digital economic transformation goals, but also to comprehend Nigeria’s ecosystem as players in terms of the public, commercial, and civil society sectors. Additionally, we must comprehend how the DCO can help support the growth of Nigeria and hopefully be an enabler.”
