Kwara Police detectives have discovered a woman’s body buried in the office of Dr. Abbass Adeyemi, Chief Medical Director of Kaiama General Hospital.
According to the authorities, the body of the woman known only as Nofisat Halidu was discovered in a little grave within a hospital while her husband was present.
Adeyemi, who is presently in custody, had been connected to numerous murder cases.
The Edo State Police Command detained Adeyemi last month in connection with the murder of cab driver Emmanuel Yobo Agbovinuere.
The victim was allegedly killed in Benin City on September 3 and his corpse was deposited at the Otofure hamlet along the Benin-Lagos highway by the suspect, who is from the Offa LGA of Kwara State.
The doctor, who received his medical degree from the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) in 2013, is reported to have hired the late Agbovinuere (taxi driver) after meeting him at a hotel some time in July 2022.
But Paul Odama, the new police chief in Kwara, had asked for a new investigation into the Halidu case.
Ajayi Okansami, a police public relations officer in Kwara, claims that the crimes were solved over the course of the investigations.
The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, CP Paul Odama psc (+), ordered an investigation, and the Kwara State Police Command desires to inform the public of the findings. When the new commissioner of police for Kwara State was going through some petitions submitted by citizens upon taking office, one particular case regarding a reported case of a missing woman named Nofisat Halidu “F” in Kaiama, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, on November 21, 2021, struck the CP. To uncover the enigma surrounding the kidnapping case and other unresolved crimes before his assumption of office, the CP quickly authorized the formation of a highly skilled investigation team in the State CID, commanded by the deputy Commissioner of Police.
Based on the CP order, the cases’ investigation got under way yesterday, September 30, 2022. pursuing a lead made possible by the arrest and confession of one Dr. Adio Adeyemi Adebowale “M” in Edo State, who admitted to killing his girlfriend Ifeoluwa “F,” who was reported missing in the Tanke district of Ilorin sometime in 2021, and dumping her body in a thicket in the Alapa region of Ilorin. An investigation led the team to Kaiama General Hospital, where the suspect’s office was forced open. A quick glance inside revealed a suspicious sight of freshly cemented floor tiles. Curiously, the tiles were broken, and a gory sight lying inside the shallow grave of decomposing carcass of an unidentified female welcomed the team. Incidentally, the said Doctor was the chief medical director of Kaiama General Hospital.
Further search of the office led to the opening of a trash can where another body of a lady later identified as the earlier reported missing Nofisat Halidu ‘f’ identified by the husband, one Mr Halidu and other members of the community who were present at the scene at the time of the search.
Other items recovered in the detained doctors office include, two telephone handsets found in the hand bag of one of the ladies found in the doctor’s drawer. Two female handbags, a female wig, a veil and a female pant.
