As commercial bus drivers began a seven-day strike on Monday, many commuters were left stranded in Lagos State.

The individuals who operate the motorparks and garages in the State are accused of extorting money, which is why there is a strike.

Recall that the Joint Drivers Welfare Association Of Nigeria (JDWAN), which represents commercial drivers in Lagos State, the country’s financial hub, had previously announced a 7-day boycott of transportation services in response to the State government’s arbitrary charges.

The Association stated that the boycott will last seven days, beginning on October 31 and ending on November 6, 2022.

In a statement issued on Sunday, signed by its National Leader, Akintade Abiodun, the Association lamented payment of illegal fees and collection of high levies from their members by government officials, which they said had increased the cost of living in Lagos.
