BREAKING: FG Declares Monday Public Holiday

The Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) birth is being celebrated this year on Monday, which the Federal Government has proclaimed a public holiday.

In a statement issued by Dr. Shuaib Belgore, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated all Muslims for being present for the event this year.

He exhorts all Nigerians to adopt the profound spiritual characteristics of love, patience, tolerance, and persistence, which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) displayed, adding that doing so will ensure peace, security, and harmony in the nation.

“Ogbeni Aregbesola calls on Nigerians, especially Muslims, to abstain from acts of violence, lawlessness, and other crime.”

The Minister was reported in the release as saying, “We must exhibit responsible leadership in Africa as the undeniable leader of our race.”

In a statement, the Minister urged all Nigerians, “and the youth in particular, to embrace the virtues of hard work and peaceful disposition to fellow humans, irrespective of faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity and join hands with the President Muhammadu Buhari led-Administration in its effort to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens would be proud of.” The Minister also called for an end to all divisive tendencies throughout the country.

According to the N-Alert application for Android and iOS, “when you notice something do N-Alert, as this will elicit rapid response from security agent,” the Minister advises Nigerians to be security alert and asks people to report any suspicious persons or activities to the local security agency.

The Minister sends warm holiday greetings to Nigerians and all Muslims.
