Biden arrives United Kingdom in readiness for Queen Elizabeth II Funeral

On Saturday, US Vice President Joe Biden traveled to London to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s burial.

The state funeral, the first in Britain since Winston Churchill passed away in 1965, will begin at 11:00 am on Monday at Westminster Abbey in London (1000 GMT).

Along with more than 2,000 other guests, Biden will attend the solemn and historic event alongside several hundred world leaders.

The heads of Russia, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Syria, and North Korea were not invited, but the leaders of the European Union, France, Japan, and many more nations will be present.

According to the White House, Biden will attend a banquet hosted by King Charles III on Sunday. During their Wednesday phone conversation, Biden promised to protect the “special relationship” between their countries.

US and British authorities revealed that Biden’s scheduled meeting with new Prime Minister Liz Truss at her Downing Street residence on Monday has been postponed. Instead, the two will meet in New York on Wednesday when they both arrive for the annual UN General Assembly.

On Saturday, world leaders started to assemble in London in order to get ready for the burial on Monday.

They present an exceptional challenge to British police, combined with the presence of hundreds of thousands of mourners from all around Britain and the world.

According to the Metropolitan Police, it will be the biggest policing operation in the history of London.

To assist Scotland Yard, more than 2,000 officers from all over the nation have been sent in.

The queen’s casket will be driven by a royal hearse from the funeral to Windsor Castle, which is located west of London, for a committal service.

The queen will thereafter be interred with her late husband Philip, her parents, and her younger sister during a private family burial.
