As we count down to the much anticipated general elections taking place on the 25th of February, 2023 for the Presidential and National Assemblies elections and 11th March, 2023 for the Gubernatorial and State Assemblies elections, it is imperative and exigent that we educate our people on the real process of exercising their civic responsibilities from A-Z on the day of elections. This is very critical as the importance of voter’s education cannot be overemphasized, Sir.
The above statement has been credited to Dr. Afees Abolore ALABI who granted telephone interview with pressmen in Ilorin over the weekend. He further said the need for this sensitization becomes very important in view of the fact that the forthcoming general elections would witness a maiden edition of where BVAS machines would be deployed for our use in Kwara State and most part of the country. This is the first time that electorates would have encounter with the machines and there is need for Kwarans to be acquainted with operations of the said machine.
Dr. Abolore Alabi, HC for Tertiary Education who also hail from Iponrin in Ilorin East Local Government of Kwara State has therefore sponsored the preparation/ translation of step by step voting process in seven (7) languages such as English, Yoruba, Hausa Nupe, Fufulde, Bokobaru and Batonu and to be played in 7 different stations (Sobi FM, Midland FM, Baruten FM, Igbomina Radio, Harmony FM, Royal FM and Tiatia Ijagbo FM) on days and time alloted to the stations. Dr. Abolore this arrangement has already commenced over the weekend and to be aired majorly after news hour of those radio stations and some in between major programmes. Details of days and time per radio stations would be made available later.
Beyond this approach, Abolore also spoke on Voter’s Education Champions that have been identified to educate the electorates on voter’s registration and actual voting processes.
Dr. Afees Abolore ALABI ended his statement by saying that we must ensure that all our votes counts by ensuring that the continuity agenda/reelection bid of His Excellency Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq is sacrosanct/ non-negotiable and same extended to all APC Party Candidates across Kwara State and by extension the voting of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for president under same platform of APC.
