The Kwara State Social Democratic Party (SDP) has lost another set of its politicians who aspired for offices during the primary and hundreds of their followers to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The decampees cited the exponential growth and tremendous development Kwara is witnessing under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the reason for their decision.
They are leaving SDP alongside hundreds of their keen followers. This coming a few weeks after some aspirants under the party joined APC.
This move has been described as a major blow for the Kwara SDP which had earlier lost one of its strongholds in Prof. Oba Abdulraheem during its controversial primary election.
The new decampee who were former aspirants include, Ahmed Kola Akorede, Kwara State House of Assembly aspirant for Essa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency of Offa Local Government; Abdulmajeed Dolapo, Kwara State House of Assembly aspirant for Balogun/Ojomu Constituency of Offa Local Government; and Adeyemo Olufunmilayo, Kwara State House of Assembly aspirant for Magaji Ngeri Constituency of Ilorin West Local Government.
There are revelations that more party stalwarts from SDP would join APC in Kwara due to their lost faith in the party.
The ruling APC has also been receiving defectors from major opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), among others.
