Since the government has not broken any of its contractual duties, Kwara State Government has demanded more speed in the continuing building of the waterworks in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area. The government has also voiced unhappiness with the contractor’s pace.
Hon. Wahab Femi Agbaje (White), commissioner for water resources, said during an unexpected visit to the plant on Thursday that the slow pace of the work—now at 72%–80%—is unacceptable. He instructed the worker to fasten his seatbelt.
Alhaji Agbaje stated that the project’s contractor needs to go above and above to meet the government’s expectations, especially now that the government has met its own obligation.
Agbaje led his team of engineers from the Ministry’s Directorate of Water Engineering Services in conducting the on-site evaluation of the project. They included the Director, Engr. Yusuf Wopa; the Acting General Manager of Kwara State Water Corporation’s representative, Engr. Bamidele Sunday; the Assistant Director, Engr. Shehu AbdulRaheem; and the Residential Engineer for the Project, Engr. Dotun Abioye.
The Commissioner gave the contractor certain priorities for the project, including the transformer’s testing and loading, leakage testing, the construction of the motor panel off-site, the installation of the motor control panel on-site, the connection to customers, and commissioning.
Before his next visit, the Commissioner ordered the contractor to expedite the project in order to fulfill government expectations and in accordance with the contractual agreement.
